FAQs

Common Questions

What is Play Therapy?

As a parent or professional when a child experiences difficulties it can be hard to know what to do or where to turn. Play Therapy can offer an evidence based therapeutic approach that uses the language of play and the creative arts to allow a child to express themselves, their experiences and their inner world. Play therapy supports children's mental health and emotional wellbeing through a child centred approach.

In Play Therapy children are supported to express and communicate feelings, develop healthy coping mechanisms and practice new behaviours in a safe and accepting environment.

The Play Therapy Tool Kit

"Toys are used like words by children, and play is their language"

  - Landreth

In a Seedlings Play Therapy space children have access to various creative arts mediums including sand, small world figures, art materials, building materials, clay, musical instruments, puppets, dolls, as well as role-play, movement and sensory resources.

The aim of the Play Therapy Tool kit is to allow feelings to be become tangible, the mediums can offer a child a voice without having to rely on verbal communication.
